Conditions We Treat
Headaches are typically caused by irritated nerves. These nerves emit chemicals known as Substance P and CGRP which are responsible for many of the symptoms experienced with head, face and neck pain. Even though there are many different types and classifications of headache, most can be successfully treated with Perineural Injection Therapy or an infusion of dextrose bathing the Sphenopalatine Gangion (SPG, also known as Pterygopalatine Ganglion). The SPG is the largest group of nerves outside of the brain and can be accessed without a needle. This approach has been around since the early 1900’s but only recently implemented in the treatment of pain and nerve dysfunction. The SPG has been shown to abort the pain associated with acute headaches as well as decreasing the frequency and intensity of headaches on an ongoing basis as well. Nerves can also become inflamed by hormonal, nutritional or other factors. Ultimately, the treatment approach is similar though…treat the nerves and the pain should be extinguished.

Greg Reser, MD
“One of the most gratifying aspects of my clinic is seeing a patient walk in with a debilitating headache and walk out feeling dramatically improved. Treating acute headaches has been one of the motivating factors for my pursuit in learning Neural Prolotherapy. It is amazing to myself and the patient suffering from the headache to have their pain extinguished. I have received more than one hug for treating patients that suffer from this severe pain.”
