“Enabling me to be the doctor I always wanted to be”
Without Dr. Lyftogt, there would be no MD2.0. Once I saw the results from performing Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT), I was fascinated with how such a seemingly simple procedure could help with such a major medical issue…pain. It also piqued my interest in learning about all of the other aspects of medicine that I never learned about in medical school and throughout my training.
Not only has Dr. Lyftogt been fine-tuning PIT for many years, but he has also been on a quest to find out the mechanism for its effectiveness. Let’s face it…if you tell people that you can treat pain by injecting “sugar water” around the nerves that are causing pain, they tend to look at you suspiciously. This is especially true if the mechanism is unknown. Dr. Lyftogt has bee aggressively assimilating historical medical papers dating from the 1800s to the newest discoveries until he has formulated a new paradigm for pain physiology. Because of his intelligence and determination, we now have a much better understanding of what causes pain.
Hopefully the rest of our medical colleagues will learn about the effectiveness of this new treatment. Acute and chronic pain are a major source of suffering in the world. Dr. Lyftogt has dedicated his life to teaching health care Providers from all over the world and I am honored to know him.
