New Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatment!
Mayo Clinic Proceedings published a new randomized controlled trial (RCT) in the August 2017 issue. The study showed significant improvement in function and decreased pain in patients treated with Perineural Injection Therapy using dextrose. The study also quantified the effects of dextrose on the effected nerves. Ultrasound images showed the dextrose-treated group had decreased size of the median nerve (swelling of the nerve is not good). And, function of the nerve improved as shown in Nerve Conduction studies as well. Even though this is a new published study, I have been doing this same therapy since 2015.
Hopefully, Mayo Clinic and other research-based institutions will study the effect of dextrose to heal other nerve entrapment syndromes. At MD2.0, we utilize this same therapy to treat pain all over the body. PIT is simple, safe and effective treatment for CTS and other pain syndromes.
